This vocabulary enrichment mini-lesson is a fun and engaging way for students to review context clues, dictionary skills, adjectives/adverbs, nouns/verbs, prefixes/suffixes, and alphabetizing in a short lesson. The goal for this mini-lesson is to promote deeper understanding of the vocabulary skills and challenge student thinking.
The following objectives are met:
Students will identify the meaning of common prefixes and suffixes and understand how they change the meaning of root words. Students will use context to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words. Students will alphabetize a series of words to the third letter and use a dictionary to determine meanings. Students will also use and understand the function of verbs (past, present, and future), nouns (singular or plural), adjectives and adverbs.
