Here are 4 classic myths and accompanying worksheets that students absolutely love! This took me a lot of searching to put together, but it was well worth it. I changed the text a bit to make it more suitable for third graders, but these would also be wonderful reading for fourth graders.
The questions that accompany each myth are mostly geared towards helping students describe the characters, along with other text-dependent questions. The students are also encouraged to think of questions of their own that they could ask.
The myths that are included are Zeus and His Mighty Company, Theseus and the Minotaur, The Story of Medusa and Athena, and How Prometheus Gave Fire to Men.
My students and I spend several days on each myth. They read it alone, we read it together, and then they read it once more in small groups. The first myth, Zeus and His Mighty Company, introduces the students to the most popular Greek gods. I can't tell you how much they love learning about them!
