I love these little packets. I use these as an opportunity for my 2nd grade students to practice all week long and then take a quiz with a familiar structure at the end.
In my classroom, my students still need ways to interact with grammar skills in a variety of ways. These packets include practice Monday-Thursday and progress in difficulty. There are opportunities to cement understanding through a variety of tasks, like fill in, matching, writing and creating Thinking Maps – to mention just a few. On Friday, students take a quiz with a familiar feel to the practice. Since I created these packets for other topics too, once students are comfortable with the format of he packets they can totally focus on content each week.
During independent work, I’m able to pull a small group and work on these with my darlings who struggle a bit. I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of ELL’s and they struggled with ELA. I created these to give them a structured way to learn each week. I didn’t want to bombard them with quantity but wanted to give them quality practice. I have really noticed that this support has helped my students master grammar skills.
