WHAT'S INCLUDED? (PRINT AND DIGITAL)

• Activity: 1: Algorithm

Students practice 4th grade multiplication using the algorithm to solve 4 digit by 1 digit multiplication problems. Students can write in each place value right on each card or drag and drop them on the digital version.

• Activity 2: Area Model

Students use the area model to fill in each multi-digit multiplication equation. Each problem is already set up to scaffold students learning.

• Activity 3: Check the Answer

Students look at the given answer and decide if the answer is correct. If it is incorrect, they fix the answer.

• Activity 4: Partial Products

Students break up each equation into partial products to solve. Each page facilitates student learning by having places for students to write each partial product and then add them up on the side.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT:

There are 11 problems included in each of the 4 games (total of 44 questions).

• Digitally: The first problem is always an example for students so they know what to do. I would recommend completing 5 questions during your lesson together and assigning the other 5 for students to complete independently. Or, assign all 10 after going over the first example slide together. They are provided in Google Slides so you can assign them in Google Classroom.

• Print: Print the task cards out and put them in a math center. Have students record answers on the recording sheet provided. Students can use the self-checking answer key to check their work. You can choose between the color and black and white option.

• fun and engaging
• no prep
• 2 versions: print and digital (for use with Google Slides)
• can use in person or online / remote / distance learning
• rigorous
• 4 games (44 task cards)
• color and black and white
• answer keys included
• easy to use format

These fourth-grade math worksheet alternatives are perfect as 4th grade math assessments, quick checks, quizzes, homework, remediation materials, extra practice, work to do at home, pre-assessments, post-assessments, unit tests, and more. They can be used in partners, independently, small groups, 4th grade math centers, distance learning, enrichment, remediation, or as a 4th grade math spiral review.

Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

• Aligns with TEKS 4.4D

Students will use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply up to a four-digit number by a one-digit number and to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties.
