This is your one stop shop for teaching figurative language to your students! This product contains 4 different centers activities, each with over 40 weeks’ worth of activities for your students to complete across an entire school year! Each center provides practice with a different type of figurative language: similes, metaphors, idioms, and personifications. These centers will help your students
not only identify types of figurative language, but also incorporate them into their writing to become better writers.
This file contains:
~5 b/w bulletin board title pages
~5 colored bulletin board title pages
~4 b/w definition cards
~4 color definition cards
~CCSS standards page
~figurative language cheat sheet
~41 simile cards
~41 metaphor cards
~41 personification cards
~41 idiom cards
~8 recording sheet options
To use this product simply print your desired title pages, definition cards and figurative language cards on cardstock, laminate for wear if you wish, and hang them up on a bulletin board. It’s that easy! I like to use sticky clips to hang the figurative language cards so I can change them easily.
You may choose to print the recording pages individually for students to complete and turn in after they complete each center, or you can print the recording pages into booklets for students to use throughout the entire school year. For each center there are two different recording page options; one is a whole page and one is a half page. If you want to print these into booklets, I recommend using one of the title pages for the front page of each booklet.
Students can complete these activities at a weekly center for a student centered learning experience. You could also complete these in a small group setting with you as the facilitator or as a whole group activity.
