Students will interview a fellow classmate, friend, or family member to practice writing a biography. It will be a 4-Part Biography. Each part represents a different category of information: Personal Information, Family/Friends, Favorite Things, and Hobbies/Interests. They will come up with their own questions for each "part" of the biography and conduct an interview.
This mini-bundle includes a Teacher Guide for the Interview Questions and Answers portion, a Rough Draft, a 2nd Draft, and a grading rubric.
I used this in my class and introduction to writing biographies. It was, essentially, a "warm up." After concluding this mini-lesson, my students went on to write more detailed biographies about important historical figures.
For a final published product, it is up to the individual classroom teacher what they would like their students to do. Whether that be to put all "parts" together into a multi-paragraph essay or to create a small booklet, devoting a page to each part.
