4 Questions is a strategy that can be used with any text (articles, textbook chapters, graphics and pictures, graphs and maps etc.). First, students are introduced to the 4 question types (Right There, Pulling it Together, Inference and On My Own) using a foldable. Students then practice writing their own questions about a given text using sentence stems. Finally there is a great graphic organizer that can be assigned with any text to help students learn good close reading and critical thinking strategies! Assign all four types, less than four or allow students to choose for easy differentiation!
