Description
The attached pdf contains 8 transformations, 2 of each of the 4 main times (reflection, rotation, dilation, and translation.)
I cut the paper up and I had students work in partners as they matched these up. Once they were correct, they glued them together to make little flashcards. They used these flashcards to quiz each other. Once a table group was finished, I had them pool all the cards and play a game of "slaps," great for kinesthetic learners. The card dealer shows the picture and the participants must slap the card and say the name of the transformation. The first person to do so wins that card. The player with the most cards wins. Students of all levels loved this game, the competition helps them to remember what key signs to look for when classifying transformations.
Another option is to cut them out, have students match them up, then have students play a memory game with the cards.
Have fun!
