Your kiddos will love practicing and learning their CKLA "Tricky" words with these 4 engaging, unique and interchangeable card games. The 60 Tricky word cards are edged in yellow, and have the "tricky" part underlined. Included in the corner of each card is the unit and lesson that the word is introduced. Cards are about the same size as a regular deck of playing cards. (approx. 2.5" x 3.5") Directions for each game are included.
Simply print one set of the download onto cardstock. Laminate. The Tricky word cards are used for each game. Feel free to start with a few and add more as they are introduced in the series. To change the game, just switch out the specific game cards.
1. "Can't trick me!" - Students practice reading the Tricky words while trying to find the cards to make the phrase "Can't trick me!"
2. Outsmart the Fox - Students will practice reading the Tricky words and try to outsmart the student who becomes a fox by choosing the most difficult card in his/her hand for the fox to attempt to read.
3. Switch-A-Roo! - Students will practice reading Tricky words. When the Switch-A-Roo! card is drawn, the student must switch his/her hand with another player.
4. Cops and Robbers - Students try to gather the most cards while following the directions on the Cops and Robbers cards. Since they follow the rules, the Cop cards result in extra turns. The Robber cards do not follow the rules, and the player may lose a turn or have to return some of the cards to the deck!
Add an parent connection by copying in black and white and send home for families to practice,too!
