4 square writing is designed to encourage young writers to 'have a go' at attempting words and writing sentences independently.
Students are firstly engaged by drawing a picture before attempting writing the text.
This may be used to write a reflection of their favourite part of a story just read, when recounting an excursion or writing about something of interest.
When printing this worksheet I suggest it be enlarged to A3 to give more space for drawing and writing.
I have successfully used this worksheet with varying grades including special education.
