Based on Donalyn Miller's book, "The Book Whisperer", I created this reader's journal as a place for students to log the books they had read and reflect as their reading challenge progressed.
How can I set this product up?
This product is perfect for your reading students! I created it to be used with either a half or whole composition notebook! I prefer a composition notebook cut in half because it is not bulky and it is easy for the students to keep on them, take home, or work around the room with! The pages can adapt to a full composition notebook, and I just use the bottom half of the page for reflection or summarizing.
I cut my own notebooks, but many places will cut them for you for a small price, just call ahead to make sure!

Idea Tip: I like to set aside 1 part of my filing cabinet for the students to access this resource and add to it as needed. At the beginning of the challenge I print the pages out for all students and place them in a labeled file that hangs in the cabinet. When they finish a book, they just go to their file and cut out the next page to glue in their journal. This was they can keep it numbered, but we don't have to glue in all the pages on day 1 of the challenge. It allows the kids to self-regulate.
