What do you do when kids finish their work early?
Let's face it most early finisher tasks to not suit all kids. Often boys get bored with pure literacy based tasks and these days we want children to see the computers as tools, not just play things for when we have finished our work.
So what is the solution? Just give them more work? Just let them play and distract the kids still trying to finish?
DON'T WORRY THE SOLUTION IS HERE!
DESIGN AND DRAW!
Ready to print and use these 44 A5 cards challenge students to problem solve, use their imagination and create a design.
There is even a leveling sheet to provide further challenge for able/older students. Students as young as five love drawing and students as old as fifteen have enjoyed designing intricate pictures, labeling them and writing about them.
All the topics are things students can relate to and thus activate their prior knowledge, such as designing robots, cakes and bedrooms.
In my experience it is tricky to set the early finisher task at the right level, make it too exciting and kids will rush their proper work, make it too boring and its like you are punishing them for finishing early.
These cards are just right, they are fun and engaging for early finishers but will not distract or deter from your lesson.
Every child I have taught loves drawing and these cards give them focus and challenge to build confidence and expression.
Give them a go and I sure your students will thank you.
There is even a poster to put on a task card box to display in your class.

1 A4 Landscape Box poster
1 A4 Portrait Leveling poster
