Key Words: summer reading, task cards, novels, short stories, chapters, memoirs, literary terms
Give your students something exciting to do with all that reading you’ve required! These cards will prompt them to do everything from think and write to sing and rap! It’s all about the card that you choose to give them! Differentiation is the key.
These are 40 Reading Task Cards that each reinforce Common Core reading skills in the 6-12 classroom. The four free cards in the preview show that each card features a key literary concept, a specific assignment for the student, and three relevant and challenging key words that will help the student think about the task. All 40 cards have a different task, and the set can be used over and over in the same classroom at any point in students’ reading experience!
A list of possible ways to use the cards in your classroom is included. Use them as an activity for summer reading assignments, as bell ringers, to prompt public speaking practice, or even as small group investigations.
