1. 122 LITERACY LEARNING CENTER ACTIVITY CARDS

The overall focus of these activity cards is on literacy development within student workshop learning centers with emphasis on reading, writing, language, vocabulary, and thinking skills. The activities, which are primarily for grades 2-3, cover a broad spectrum of academic areas and interests, as well as social skills and self-awareness.

Included is a Student Activity Record Sheet as well as a Student Activity Worksheet which can be duplicated to aid in creating individual learning center folders for each student. The Student Activity Record Sheet is to be attached to the cover of a pocket folder. The worksheets can be kept inside the folder, one pocket for blank worksheets and the other for completed activities.

The answers for non open-ended activities are on the back of each card. Students may use this feature for self-correction.

Printing from the CD:

There are 2 files on the CD in the Literacy cards folder, both are in PDF format .

· The Literacy Learning Center Activities File

· The Literacy Learning Center Activities Answers File

All of the 122 activities cards should be printed on cardstock (110 lb. recommended). They begin on page 6 and end on page 66. There are two activities (4.25 x6.5) on each 8.5 x11 page. (If you have an updated Adobe viewer they will print in any size. You can even print multiple pages per sheet and have smaller cards.) Depending on the thickness of the cardstock or the features of your printer, you may choose to print them a few pages at a time, or with an automatic feed.

If you wish to print the answers on the reverse sides of the cards, the page numbers in the Answers File correspond to the page numbers in the Activities File. (Ex: Page 6 in the Answers File has the correct answers to the page 6 activities in the Activities File.) There fore, you merely insert the printed card pages from the Activities File into the feeding tray and print the answers on the back by choosing the matching page numbers in the Answers File.

After printing, there are guidelines for easy cutting. The cards can be laminated for protection against wear. They are also alphabetized for easy sorting and can be placed in a 4x6 file box with A-Z card guides.

*NOTE: If you rather not use cards, just print out the pages separately as two- activity literacy worksheets or print the entire file and create a workbook. Either way your students will enjoy doing them while simultaneously developing their literacy skills.

3. 140 MATH LEARNING CENTER ACTIVITY /TASK CARDS

This set of Learning Center cards is designed for painless, ongoing review of the standards and concepts that appear on Comprehensive Assessment third grade mathematics tests without interfering with or taking up a disproportionate amount of time of the daily curriculum.

You can print 140 (3" by 4 and 5/8") activity cards for your Math Learning center.
The overall focus of these activity cards is on the standards as presented in state comprehensive assessments. The math examples presented, which are primarily for grades 2-3, cover the following:

Number Sense & Operations
Patterns, Relations, & Algebra
Geometry
Measurement
Data Analysis,Statistics, & Probability

They are numbered 1-35 with 4 examples (a, b, c, d ) for each number from one of the five areas. The cards may be color-coded according to the above categories , the name of which may be printed on the back of each card. This is helpful if a student needs assistance in a particular area as you can easily pull out all the cards of a particular color that correspond to the student's specific category of concern.

Also included is a Student Activity Chart as well as a Student Activity Worksheet which can be duplicated to aid in creating individual folders for each student. The Student Activity Chart may be attached to the cover of a pocket folder. The student circles the number on which he is working. After completion of all 4 examples that correspond to the number, the student fills in the circle with a highlighter or magicmarker. This keeps track of items addressed as well as those which need to be completed. The worksheets can be kept inside the folder, one pocket for blank worksheets and the other for completed activities.

Another option is to create a workbook of blank worksheets including the Student Activity Chart which pupils can keep in their desks, thereby eliminating the need for folders.

The answers may be printed on the back of each card. Students may use this feature for self-correction.

Cards should be printed on 65lb. or 110lb.cardstock and can be laminated for protection against wear.

After printing, there are guidelines for easy cutting. They will fit perfectly in a 3x5 file box .
