Teachers will use one card each day following their math lesson to “Check for Understanding.” This strategy will allow teachers to check in with their students each day by providing a very quick assessment tool. In addition, this will enable teachers to determine math groups each day based on knowledge obtained and demonstrated.
Allow students to “explain their thinking” on the back of the card after they have provided answers on the front. In addition, this may be used as part of their math journal. Students may paste each ticket in their journal and provide a written response.
