This is a PDF collection of week long reading logs to use for homework that go with the strategies that you are teaching in class. This allows for your students to practice the current strategies that you are teaching in class such as: Literature--summarizing, story elements, making inferences about character feelings and traits, how characters are changing, theme and how characters learn from their challenges, fables and morals, idioms, figurative language, context clues, and mood and tone. For nonfiction: text features, main idea and supporting details, new facts, questions, activating schema, summarizing nonfiction texts, and for literature circles practice: visualizing, predicting, identifying an important passage, thinking deeply about characters and a symbol to identify them based on text evidence, word finder, creating "thick" questions, summarizing, making inferences and supporting inferences with evidence from the text and finding figurative language in context, as well as root words/suffixes for figuring out unknown words. Works best for 4th and 5th grade. Created to hand out on Monday morning and there is a prompt for Monday-Thursday nights. Due on Friday. I check each morning. It's up to you! This collection includes 14 weeks of logs for both fiction and nonfiction. I have also included rigorous reading response questions bookmarks.
