In this assignment, students read two current events articles related directly to the 4th amendment. One case questions whether cellphone evidence (text messages read indicating a murder took place) should be allowed in court, if it was obtained prior to a warrant. Another deals with police taking your DNA, from soda cans, cigarettes, etc., without you knowing and without your consent. Questions corresponding to each article are included. I usually use this assignment as a homework, or as a source for discussion in class.
