A great activity that will engage learners providing them and opportunity to conquer common core while teachers conquer compass.
Standards that are assessed: 4.NBT.1, 4.NBT.2, 4.NBT.3, 4.NBT.4, 4.OA.3, & 4.OA.3
The objective (called play in this activity; I love football) is written in an “I can” format. I did this so my learners will know what knowledge each problem is assessing. Learners are also given two color pencils (one red, one green). If they solved the problem correctly they circle the play in green, if they solve it wrong the circle it in red. This allows me to assess students and create individual learning plans for my learners so that they can work on standards they show a deficiency in.
Pick & Choose activity allows my learners the opportunity to have a say in their learning and take responsibility.
Differentiation Activity: I assign my intensive learners “A,” benchmark learners are assigned “B” and my strategic learners choose to solve “A” or “B” based on their comfort level.
