“This is going to cost so much money.”

“This looks so overwhelming.”

“I could never do this!”

What if I told you classroom transformations could be EASY to set up, FUN to implement, and STRESS-FREE?

A room transformation changes your room into a certain setting or theme to engage students in their own learning with rigorous content.

Classroom transformations are possible in EVERY classroom. You don’t have to spend hours of your time setting up a classroom transformation or spend lots of money to make it SO MUCH FUN!

A Quick Description

Students pretend they are shopping for groceries while practicing division at the same time. Fourth grade students complete 30 questions that are real-world themed. This math activity is perfect for 4th graders. It aligns with 4.NBT.6.

There are 4 different versions included so that you can use what you need!

Step 1: Tell your fourth grade class that they are in a grocery store today looking for the food on their shopping list. They will solve questions to practice their skills. Students solve all 30 challenges to complete the classroom transformation!

Step 2: Students solve a math challenge. Then, they get it checked by the teacher. The teacher signs their recording sheet to show completion of each challenge. When a student finishes the apple challenge, the teacher signs the apple box on the recording sheet. Students can work independently, in partners, or groups. Your choice!

Step 3: When students finish all the challenges (or however many you assign), they win! You can give them the certificate of completion included.

Step 4: Most of the time, there are early or fast finishers! These kiddos get to go around the room and scan the QR codes provided! Each QR code leads to a fun fact about grocery stores that they can record on the sheet provided or a piece of notebook paper.
