Essential Elements (EE) are skills for students with the most significant disabilities, linked to the grade-level expectations in the CCSS, building a bridge to academic. These EEs will be assessed with Dynamic Learning Maps.

Includes a data collection sheet for each Essential Element for this grade so you can track each student on each standard. A summary sheet of all the EEs for the grade allows you to rate the student at the Beginning of Year and each quarter for tracking and reporting progress.

Suggestions for Using Data Collection and Progress Reporting Charts:

• Create a folder for each student or organize a binder with tabs for all of your students’ records in one place. I like to use the pocket folders with prongs for students, and divide the charts by subject and type. It makes them manageable, easy to pull only the data collection chart to use while working with students, or for using only the Quarterly Reports for grades and annual reviews. The pockets allow me to keep work samples or other related papers handy. I have my students for several years so I can continue to use these folders, changing out the sheets based on what we are working on.

• Print and hole-punch the Quarterly Progress Reports for all the Essential Elements for the grade and put them in one folder.

• Determine which Essential Elements you will be working on and collecting data for this quarter. Print out one data collection sheet for each EE. Write the EE on the blank lines.

• Hole-punch the Data Collection sheets and put them in a separate folder.

• Label both folders with the students’ name and the subject matter (ELA or Math).
