This activity is a great introduction to fractions. Students create a gumball machine and then write fractions to represent each different color of gumball. Fractions must be written in simplest form. The best part about this activity? Students can get creative about what they use to represent their fractions. They can simply draw them, or use sequins, beads, glitter, thumb prints, pom poms, stickers... the possibilities are endless! Makes for a great bulletin board or hall display!
