I created this at the end of the year to review basic skills for fourth graders. My students are low this year, and they need extra practice. Each page included in the pack has a full description below. We made this packet super fun by having a camping DAY in the classroom where kids brought in sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows. I turned on lamps and we made forts and tents around a faux campfire. Make it FUN!
Skills covered: Equivalent Fractions, Rounding, Standard Form, Expanded Form, Word Form, Long Division with Remainders using Four Digits by One Digit, Comparing Fractions with Unlike Denominators, Double Digit Multiplication (2-digit by 2 digit), and STEM activity to build a DIY Solar Oven and make S'mores!
Campfire Comparing Fractions: Students cut & paste marshmallow fractions over the proper campfire by comparing them.
Equivalent Fractions Stargazing: Students use the key to color equivalent fractions written on stars to create shapes or “constellations”.
Fire Wood Number Logs: Students read the number on each campfire log (written in expanded or word form) and write the standard form below it. Then, students color the logs that are less than 185,000 brown.
Start the Fire!: Students use mostly 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication (with some 4 digit by 1 digit mixed in as well) to find the product. They color the fire of products greater than 3,000 red.
S’more Long Division: Students find each quotient to the 4 digit by one digit long division (some with remainders) problems. Then, they match each problem to the s’more with the correct quotient.
River Rush Rounding: Students cut the oars out and round them to the nearest thousand. Then, they glue the oars under the correct boat with rounding rules on it.
DIY Solar Oven Activity: Students will use supplies and instructions to create their solar oven and bake s’mores using nothing but the sun’s energy! Instructions include a picture and are designed for students to create the ovens entirely on their own! #problemsolvingskills!
