Description

Getting ready for the 4th Grade Math MSTEP State Assessment can be a challenge when the practice materials put out by the state are so limited! With this newly updated resource, you can help your students feel confident heading into state assessment season! With three versions of 32 different questions, this packet provides opportunities to guide students through test-taking strategies and to allow them to practice independently.

Please note that this resource is based on the released questions for the 4th Grade Math MSTEP (both online and paper-pencil). It is intended to give you more options for preparing your students without just repeating the same questions again and again. I personally review the resource each year to ensure it is updated and current, but there is no guarantee that MSTEP questions will be exactly like the preparation materials that are released.

How does this product work?

This product allows teachers to provide multiple opportunities for students to feel more comfortable and prepared for state assessment questions! You have many options on how to use this resource:

  1. Mix and match the printable pages to create the perfect review for your students! Solve the first problem together and let students try the second question independently.
  2. Assign the Google slides to your students via Google Classroom and allow them to work through the questions individually, with partners, or as a class.
  3. Use one or two problem types per week and extend the review over several months
  4. Cut the pages apart and put them around the room for a fun review scoot-style activity!

What if I don't want to use all of the pages?

No worries! The pages and Google slides included in this resource are numberless! If you don't like a certain problem or don't feel like you have enough time to go over it, don't include the page or delete the slide! This means that you can mix and match the activities that your unique students need to practice.

This resource also pairs well with my other MSTEP Prep resources!

The questions in this are quite easy to truly prepare students for M-Step content, and the layout requires a LOT of ink to be used on each page. I would highly suggest to edit so that less ink is used to print them. I like that there are only two problems per page! The problems are a great variety.

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
