This set of quizzes works well to track student progress on basic math skills as well as problem solving. There are 10 problems in a quiz, and they are intended to be a quick assessment (30 minutes or less). There are seven “Forms” or quizzes included in this product, so there are a total of 70 problems. Most of the problems are open ended, but there are a few multiple choice questions sometimes as well.
This is Volume 1 and includes Forms A- G (7 Quizzes.)The questions cover topics taught during the 1st semester of school. Because they are meant to be a spiral review, they can be used at any time during the year after the 6th week of school.
Volume 2 can be purchased at this link: Spiral Review Quick Quizzes Volume 2 (Forms H-N-7 Weeks)
The Growing Bundle of Volumes 1-3 can be purchased at this link: Spiral Review Quick Quizzes Growing Bundle of Volumes 1-3 (Forms A-T 21 Weeks)
I have used them on a bi-weekly or weekly basis, depending on our schedule and what lessons are being taught in a week. Usually, if we are giving a unit assessment in a week, I do not give these quizzes. I like to give the quiz on Friday because we do not have our Daily Spiral Review on Fridays, so the quiz is their Bellwork on that day.
I then use them to plan my small group RTI intervention and re-teaching for the following week. The quizzes help me pinpoint weak areas for individual students as well as the whole class. I always have the students correct their quizzes to make sure they understand what they missed.
They can be used as an independent assessment or as practice if you are needing more spiral review practice in your classroom.
Please Note: Because different districts have different scope and sequences, the skills you have covered may vary. We use TEKS Resource System in our district.
I use these quizzes in conjunction with our TEKS Texas Tornado Daily Spiral Review program that included a Problem of the Day and basic math review problems.
If you have questions, please email me at email@example.com. Please download the Preview to see Form A, which is an example of one quiz.
