Consistent word problem practice is key to helping students succeed in math. However, the word problems that students are regularly given to solve need to be word problems that focus on the skills and concepts they have already learned.
For that reason, prepackaged spiraling word problem resources have never worked for me. However, I knew I needed something that I could pull from every day to get that consistent practice. This resource was born from that need.
This BUNDLE of my 4th Grade Word Problem of the Day resources is meant to supplement any pacing or curriculum guide you use. Here are the key features that allow this:
*Each set is skill-based.
*Each set is separated in a way that allows you to heavily target the operations you need at the time you need them.
*The sets are created with different formats so that you can mix and match to create just the spiraling word problem curriculum that works for you. Checklists are included to help you keep track of which word problems for each set you have used.
*An editable version is included so that you can change the numbers to increase or decrease the rigor as needed.
This BUNDLE includes:
Set 1: Whole Number Operations: Adding and Subtracting Whole Numbers, Multiplication and Division Basic Facts, and Multi-Step Word Problems - 60 Word Problems (40 One Step and 20 Multi-Step)
Set 2: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division Word Problems : Multi-Digit Multiplication (1-10: 2-3-4-digit by 1-digit, 11-20: 2-digit by 2-digit), Multi-Digit Division (1-digit divisors only), and Multi-Step Word Problems (with one operation in each problem being multi-digit multiplication or division)- 60 Word Problems (40 One Step and 20 Multi-Step)
Set 3: Fraction Operations: Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Mixed Numbers, Multiplying Fractions by Whole Numbers, and Multi-Step Fraction Word Problems (40 One Step and 20 Multi-Step)
The word problems in this resource are available in three different formats:
1. One problem per page format: This format works well for projecting the problems via a smartboard or printing them out to place at a math center.
2. One problem per page with student workspace: This format works well for giving each student a word problem daily. There is ample space for the students to organize and show their work.
3. One week per page: This format works well for paper-saving classrooms. All of the word problems for the week are on one page.
