Grow a garden of common prefixes, suffixes and root words in your classroom! I've included a year's worth of word parts, so each week you can introduce a new word part. Each chart is the form of a flower. The stem defines the word part and the petals are examples of each word part. I have included blank petals for each word part so students can add their own ideas. I laminate these at the beginning of the year and add a new word flower each week. I suggest printing the words on colored paper (I chose one color for all the suffixes, another for prefixes and another for root words). I used a fourth grade list for these words, although they are suitable for 3rd and 5th graders as well.
