Have you been incorporating Reader's Workshop into your classroom, but find your students struggle with what to write in their reader's notebook? Have you found that their reader's notebooks don't seem to show quality thinking about the day's teaching point?
Solve these problems by using this no-prep student centered notebook! It comes with workshop assignments that align with all 17 mini-lesson sessions in the Lucy Calkins Historical Fiction Clubs Reader's Workshop Unit (Unit 4, 4th Grade). These assignments help give students structured, guided practice through the session's teaching point. They also allow teachers to have daily formative assessments to assess student progress! Also included are assignments for each Share session, because this unit is students' first experience within the curriculum in book clubs! The Share assignments have sentence stems to help guide discussion and provide students with practice in taking notes on discussions.
The Historical Fiction Clubs unit is written for fourth grade students, but I typically use this as the first unit of the year for my fifth graders, as it provides a great set up for the first unit of the 5th Grade Workshop curriculum!
Included in this product:
- A student notebook cover page
- Reading log for students to track their reading over the course of the unit
- Workshop assignments for all 17 Sessions
- Share assignment for 16 sessions (excluding Celebration - Unit 17)
This is a supplemental resource to help you implement this wonderful program with ease! In order to use this product, you must have purchased the Reader's Workshop program for 4th Grade from Heinemann.
