No-prep, 4th grade STAAR test-prep "true story" reading passages!
With this resource, students will read interesting stories about famous people in history that are rarely told. For example, students will learn about how Amelia Earhart struggled in her childhood for not being more "ladylike" or how Henry Ford caused an explosion in his home as child due to his inquisitive mind. After each passage, students will respond to critical thinking reading questions directly aligned to the 4th Grade STAAR reading TEKS such as character traits, drawing conclusions, context clues, main idea, theme, summary and etc. The “true stories” have been collected to motivate students to want to learn about historical events and leaders in a fun unsuspecting way. This resource is also an excellent tool to encourage students to read more critically. Print and Go Reading Practice!
The passages may be used as daily warm-ups, test-prep, tutoring or as an excellent resource to integrate reading and social studies.
I have included "stories rarely told" about the following historical figures:
George W. Bush
First Lady Martha Washington
The Mayflower "Saints and the Strangers"
