My students love learning about the Native American tribes in 4th grade. We study the Nez Perce, Kwakiutl, Seminoles, Inuit, Pawnee and Hopi tribes.
As much as they love learning about the Native Americans, they get discouraged writing about them because they have a hard time organizing ALL of their thoughts into paragraph form.
This is a complete set of graphic organizers to help your students take notes on the food, shelter, environment and clothing of the 6 Native American tribes studied in 4th grade.
Each graphic organizer comes with a picture that represents that tribe in the middle and then 4 lined sections for them to write in. For my students I have them take notes from books they read, the internet research, video clips we watch and their social studies book on each tribe. Then they write 1 paragraph for each section of the graphic organizer. This makes writing their essay so much easier for them, and they don't even realize they are preparing to write while taking notes.
My students love this!
