Before I discovered Computer Center Sheets, it was difficult for my students to independently access specific websites. They had trouble typing web addresses, and it was time consuming for me to set up icons on each computer in advance. Then Mary at Sharing Kindergarten
introduced her Computer Center Sheets. Now my students can easily access the sites I have chosen. Computer Center Sheets allow you set up the computers in your classroom so that they direct your students to specific skill related websites. With these, there's less frustration for you and your students!
This set of thirteen 4th grade ELA sheets addresses:
capitalization & punctuation
adjectives & adverbs
prefixes, suffixes, and base words
synonyms, antonyms, and homophones
Each sheet contains links to six sites which have been chosen for their educational value and interest level. A few sheets contain a video, and these are set to run in "quiet" mode so that no other videos, ads, or comments appear on the page.
Previewing the sites on the sheet with your students allows them to see exactly what to do for each game and helps reduce off task behavior. Of course they can click away from the site after accessing the internet, but I've found that setting the ground rules up front helps eliminate this.
For details about how these work and for more specifics about the skills addressed, download the preview file. A sample sheet for you to try can be found here: SAMPLE

Each district sets its own filters and there's no guarantee that all links will work on all computers due to this. If you have trouble, or if you know of additional awesome resources, please let me know and I will try to get it fixed for you.
