Many assessment items on TPT are cute and have bundles of multiple resources, but the key is for an assessment or activity to be as closely aligned to the state test as possible. The truth is that many resources are not, even mass produced books like Motivation or STAAR ready. On the fourth grade revising and editing portion of the writing STAAR, students are asked to correctly identify which change in the sentence is necessary for the sentence to be correct. Only, the typical question does not have all multiple choices that correspond to the same skill (a,b,c, & d won't all be capitalization or subject verb agreement). Because of this, students have to be able to prove some answer choices wrong while they prove the correct answer correct. This six question assessment/quiz has correct answer choices that show mastery of capitalization rules as they relate to the following categories: Months, States, Landmarks, Proper nouns, Personal Titles, etc. The incorrect answer choices allow students to show an understanding of the following revising and editing skills: homophones, subject-verb agreement, punctuation, irregular verb conjugation, etc.
