This 5 to 6 day project is a self-directed, group project for students to research the following topics about eggs - functions, nutritive value, grading process, how to cook, structure, freshness, production, marketing/advertising, safety and storage.
Students will take on an expert role on one or two of the above topics with their kitchen groups (4 students). There are a total of 6 expert groups with their topics listed on 6 individual sheets.
Day 1 - research topics online or through textbooks
Day 2 - continue with research; some may begin posters
Day 3 & 4 - continue with designing posters
Day 5 - some may require another day to design poster
Day 6 - use questions to develop a question sheet for students to view and rotate through posters and answer the questions.
Students are expected to generate 3 critical thinking questions and email them to you. Use these questions to generate a worksheet for students to answer.
Extend the project by planning a Food Lab about eggs.
