Game 2 - practice counting back in the range of 0-20
Game 3 - practice counting back in the range of 20-100
Print the game (2 pages) of your choice. Cut along the area indicated in the directions. Tape or glue together and laminate if you like!
* One game board (choose the board that best fits your students’ needs)
* 2-4 players
* One die (I use a six sided numeral die)
* One game token for each player
Players all begin on start. Taking turns, they will each roll the die and move the designated spaces. They need to identify the number they land on and count back 5 from that number. If they land on a race car space, they can move forward the amount that is assigned to the square! For the 0-40 and 20-100 games, I selected numbers carefully so students will often need to cross from one decade to the previous decade.
***Special Directions for 10-0***
In this version, I don’t have the kids count back only 5. This is usually something I’m working on early in Kindergarten, so we just count back to zero from the number we land on.
Scaffold: If needed, students can use a number line or Hundred Grid/Chart to help support their counting back.
