This graphic organizer is designed to help upper elementary students correctly structure a 5-paragraph essay. The template is justified to the right to allow for hole-punching.
The Introduction and Conclusion boxes are large enough to have the students write out their completed first drafts in paragraph form.
The Main Event/Point boxes may contain a short word/phrase to sum up the main idea of the body paragraphs. The Detail boxes below those contain three bullet points for students to add supporting facts and details.
Once this graphic organizer is filled, all that should be left for the student to do is compose the body paragraphs in sentence form using transitional words.
