The 5 Parameters of ASL are the language's essential building blocks. Encouraging students to be aware of- and be able to identify- these Parameters is an important aspect of their language development. This activity includes a Parameter Chart comparing pairs of basic vocabulary (many of which beginning ASL I students often sign incorrectly [ie Grandmother vs Grandfather = 1 Parameter difference]). Students are to place a check mark under each Parameter that is different.
This can be used as individual, pair, or small group work, and is a nice refresher for basic ASL I vocab (family, colors, clothing).
