This game is great for a literacy review center. All you need is a timer for 5 seconds!
In this game, students put the cards (80 of them) in a pile in the center of the table. One by one, a student draws a card and chooses another student at the table to "quiz". The student who drew the card reads the card to the student and the other student has to say the correct answer within 5 seconds. If they say the correct answer, they get a point. If they do not say the correct answer, the card goes back into the pile.
The review game includes 80 cards and includes:
CVC, CVCE, rhyming, short & long vowels, grammar, compound words, facts/opinions, homophones, synonyms/antonyms, contractions, beginning/middle/ending sounds, syllables, alphabet, punctuation, 5 w's, PIE, prefix/suffix, bossy R, silent E, and more.
You can adapt this to your kids' levels by simply taking out the cards that are too challenging for them. The cards range from grades K-3.
This makes a great game during ELA test prep, but can (and should) be used all year long.
