I use these activities when teaching "Place", a theme of geography.
After explaining what place means, I go through the presentation. Students will work individually to try and guess the ten cities shown in the presentation. After going through the ten photos of various cities, I give students the correct answers. Students will then discuss why and how they knew the cities just by looking at a picture. For example, the Eiffel Tower in Paris is unique only to Paris, France.
After going through the ten cities, the class will transition into the "I'm Thinking of a Place..." game which is modeled after the "Where Am I" category in the board game Smart Ass.
This product includes a presentation to accompany the "Guess the City" game as well as an answer key. It also includes an activity in which students will create their own "Guess the Place" clues.
After students create their own clue cards, they will take turns quizzing their classmates.
