Triangle Puzzles are an engaging (kids love them), easy and quick way for students to practice many of the key math terms and skills that are foundational to the Common Core Math Standards in Middle School. They can be completed with or without a calculator. Students can work on these puzzles in small groups, pairs, or individually. The puzzles can be used often and throughout the year, as an introduction, assessment, at stations, or review. They can be used as a bell ringer, an exit ticket, or embedded in the day’s lesson.
The puzzles can be copied on card stock, laminated and cut into triangle pieces for repeated use. I usually make 8 sets of each puzzle on different colored card stock for easy organization and handling. Some of the puzzles require a data sheet (included as needed) to be handed out or displayed on the board/projector. As a time saver, the puzzles could be copied on regular paper for the students to cut out, mix up, and correctly reassemble and tape together.
