Students will build & strengthen their resilience as they reflect on ways they can help themselves throughout the school year, implementing the 5 core competencies of SEL: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

This is GREAT lesson for the first few days of school. It is a fun carousel style that stirs the class with a casual tone and allows for lively class discussion. The concept is teamwork and all the players that have a hand in the learning process: students, teachers, and parents.

I love to kick the year off with this because the workshop environment allows for all the personalities in the class to be exposed. It's a great way to survey the students who are leaders, timid, apprehensive, etc. I learn SO much about my students during this lesson. It also give great insight to life at home as well.

As a class, we come back to this lesson all throughout the school year. It's the perfect foundation to any classroom community.
