Everyone is trying to find ways to incorporate more technology in the classroom! Here you will find 5 fun and creative activity ideas using GarageBand that will complement things you're probably already teaching. Also, 4/5 of the projects can be adapted for classrooms with only one computer or device.
**NOT FOR USE IN THE MUSIC CLASSROOM** (If you're interested in MUSIC technology project ideas, check out my store for tons of great resources!
These activities are aimed at the general elementary student or younger middle school student. Please note that this is not exactly a collection of formal lesson plans. However, it is a solid launching point in that direction should you choose to do that. The instructions are written for Mac users, but the lessons can also be done with iOS.
While the activities have been created for use with GarageBand, if you are already familiar with a different application like Audacity, etc., the general concept will still apply
For every lesson, the project details sheet will include the following:
• a basic overview of what the project will be
• a step-by-step of how to accomplish/teach the project
• a “tips and tricks” section designed to help you or students with common mistakes, challenges, etc. which I’ve encountered after teaching these lessons before
• A “techy stuff” section that explains the techy things beginners to GarageBand may be unfamiliar with
Also included is a glossary of GarageBand terms, a map of GarageBand functions, and a list of keyboard shortcuts.
