Ready to motivate your students to read with a book challenge for the year? Use these monthly-themed posters to keep track of progress toward a class goal!
I designed this product to use with my 4th grade class. At the beginning of the year, we agree on a goal of 5 books per month per student. We multiply the individual book goal by 10 months and then by the number of students in the class to come up with a class goal. If each student reads 5 books in 10 months they’ll meet their personal goal of 50 books in the school year and we will meet our class goal as well. (11 monthly posters are included for August and September start dates. Title sheets for 40 books challenge and 30 book challenge are also included if lower goals are needed.)
We use a large class grid to keep track of books read by each student. At the end of each month we add the number of books read that month and add it to the yearly total. We record the monthly total and the yearly total on the 50 Book Challenge posters. My students have loved doing their part toward our class goal. And some students love reading extra books to make up for lower participation months.
I hope this helps motivate your students to read, read, read!
