Looking for more cute poems with pictures to help your students? These illustrated poems make reading more inviting!! And, the visual cues are very helpful to your kids! I have written over 50 more poems using 50 different sight words than my first set of 50 illustrated poems.
I copy these poems onto big chart paper and read it throughout the week. At the end of the week, I photocopy the poem and have the kids trim it and glue it into their poem notebooks. After they complete the assignment, they reread their whole notebook. This helps to build fluency and it helps reading with more expression.
Parents LOVE getting this adorable notebook at the end of the year filled with their child’s drawings and some writing.
Each poem highlights one sight word (although a number of the poems have more than one word that is probably on your word wall!). I have included some seasonal poems to along with some holidays, special school days, and the weather.
Here is a list of the sight words that are included: about, all, another, because, been, could, day, does, down, friend, good, her, here, him, how, into, little, many, new, not, other, our, out, over, own, put, said, saw, say, says, should some, that, their, them, then, there, think, too, went, were, what, when, where, who, why, with, would, very, your
