An essential part of reading enjoyment and comprehension is making connections. This reusable form includes 50 reading prompts and will assist students in making text to self, text to text, and text to world connections. This form can be used after independent reading, small group reading, or whole group reading. It can be kept in a folder or journal and taken out when needed.
Here’s how it’s used:
1. After reading, the student takes out the prompt sheet and chooses a prompt. She or he writes the prompt in a journal.
2. Once the prompt is chosen, the student puts a check mark or an x in one of the boxes beside the prompt.
3. The students writes a journal entry using the prompt.
Students use the form throughout the school year, but may only pick the same prompt 3 times and do not have to use them in order. Journal entries may be shared with a classmate, a small group, or with the entire class!
~For personal and single classroom use only.~
