This pack has 50 Winter themed word problems (or number stories). The pages all follow a consistent format to help in developing student independence. These problems all have a sum to 15. The addition and subtraction pages are jumbled up so that students have to work out the operation.
Each page has an addition or subtraction number story (or word problem) and multiple ways to represent the problem. In this case, a number line, part-part-whole model, 20-frame and number sentence.
I am developing packs for each season and special days throughout the year.
You can use the problems in different ways. For example, to start off the year you might project each page and complete whole class. Later, you might work with a small group before moving the pages to an independent work math tub.
I have included instructions for printing multiple problems per sheet of paper. Personally, I print 4 problems on one sheet of paper (or 8 if I copy double sided). My Grade 1 students have not had a problem with this size. Alternatively, you could print 2 problems on one sheet of paper or keep them full size.
This pack aligns to the following Common Core Standard:
1.0A.1- Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions.
