This is a set of ideas to stimulate creative writing in your class. There are 18 story cards and each card contains 6 words/phrases that must all be used in the student's story. Next, there are 16 story strips which contain thought-provoking questions that are relevant to their lives. Last, there are 16 photos to inspire thoughts and stir up memories to write about. There are 2 pictures on each page. So students have a bit of a choice. The teacher can choose one thing for all the students to write about or print and cut the cards, strips, and photos. Place all in a box or just a sample of prompts and have each student take one without looking. Teacher could also display one page of photos and instruct students to choose one of the two pictures to write about. Another idea is to place all these ideas, once laminated, at a writing center.
