The Global Autism Project is a nonprofit organization committed to educating children with autism around the world They partner with autism centers all over the world to provide training in sustainable, evidence-based practices for individuals with autism. By training therapists and providing supervision at the local level, the Global Autism Project builds sustainable programs that thrive long after the partnerships end.
Why Should I Donate?
o There are an estimated 70 million people in the world with autism. 85% of them live in developing countries where resources are scarce. The Global Autism Project is 100% committed to reducing this disparity.
o Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) is a certification that guarantees you can provide quality, scientifically-proven, effective services for children with autism. There are currently only 54 countries in which BCBAs live and work. That means 139 countries don’t have BCBAs.
o Unlike in North America and Europe, most countries are not legally required to provide special education services, so most children with autism never get to go to school. Global Autism Project is working to raise the bar in autism-awareness and teacher training all around the world!
o Early intervention works, and early identification is necessary for that to happen!! In the US and other highly-resourced countries, age of diagnosis of autism is usually between 18 months and 3 years, allowing kids to get speedy, effective early intervention. In countries with fewer resources, age of diagnosis is often around 6-8 years. Global Autism Project is helping to lower that number by promoting autism awareness around the world!
