Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.
Introduce a topic clearly, provide a general observation and focus, and group related information logically; include formatting (e.g., headings), illustrations, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension.
Develop the topic with facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples related to the topic.
Students learn about report writing through the CRUNCH acronym:
C- Consider. Consider your topic. A good topic should not be too broad or too specific.
R- Research. Research your topic. Find out as much about your topic as you can.
U- Understand. Understand your topic. Your research should lead you into understanding your topic.
N- Number. Number the subtopics (ideas) you want to include in your report. Number the pages of your report.
C- Create. Create your report. Create a rough draft first and then a good draft.
H- Hand In. Hand in your report to the teacher. Hand it in on time.
