Writing prompts can be a mixed blessing in a classroom of writers. For students who have NO IDEA what to write about during writer's notebook time, they can be inspirational. For students who have their own ideas what to write about, they can be stifling. I never force all students to write to a prompt, but I have lots of prompts available for students who need them.
I collect good writing prompts, and I have for over 25 years as a teacher. You can purchase my 34 pages of saved writing prompts at this page.
In addition, you'll receive my 15-slide PowerPoint lesson on how to use "Question Leads" in prompts to inspire an interesting introduction for prompt-inspired writing.
Check out the free preview of this product to see both one page of sample prompts, and a few slides from the PPT lesson.
