### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1. These Lesson Plans explain that a digit in one place has ten times the value of the same digit in the place directly to its right. Conversely, a digit has one tenth of the value of the same digit in the place directly to its left.

2. Students will create and use charts and equations to explore the relationships between the places. For example, a two in the ones place has a value (2) that is 10 x 10 or 100 times the value of a two in the hundredths place (0.02). These Lesson Plans focus on decimal places.

3. Students will learn that base-ten pieces can be used to represent digits in any three adjacent places, because base-ten pieces have the same relationship to each other as the places.

4. Students will solve word problems using place value charts. For example, students will find that 30 is 10 x 10 or 100 times as many as 0.3 and that 620,000 is one tenth of 6,200,000.

5. These Lesson Plans include templates that allow teachers to modify and create additional practice problems for students.
