Product Description

Do your students need extra practice and assessment with multiplying whole numbers by fractions and multiplying fractions by fractions? Do you need to know that your students can find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths? These fifth grade math fraction assessments provide four opportunities for students to show what they know on Common Core Math standard 5.NF.4! For each assessment, students will solve one multiple choice problem, write a story problem, and solve a given word problem using a model and equation.

Print out the two student pages and fold or cut in half to use. Students can complete these pages in class for extra practice, for homework, or as a quick and easy to grade quiz! Use all four as quick assessments to track student progress on each fifth grade fraction standard.

A complete matching teacher answer key with models and equations is included for easy grading!

Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NF.B.4.A

Interpret the product (a/b) × q as a parts of a partition of q into b equal parts; equivalently, as the result of a sequence of operations a × q ÷ b.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NF.B.4.B

Find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths by tiling it with unit squares of the appropriate unit fraction side lengths, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths. Multiply fractional side lengths to find areas of rectangles, and represent fraction products as rectangular areas.
